About the event

Maps and journeys intersect in many ways. In this talk, Debbie Hall tells the stories of twenty historical journeys, routes and adventures, followed through the maps that made them. The intriguing journeys and routes featured range from distances of a few miles to great adventures across land, sea, air and space. Some describe the route that a traveller followed, some are the results of exploration, and others were made to show future travellers the way to go, accompanied by useful and sometimes very beautiful maps.

 Speakers

Debbie Hall is a Senior Library Assistant in the Bodleian Map Room and author of the book Adventures in Maps, published by Bodleian Library Publishing. She has previously worked in the map collections of the British Library and the Royal Geographical Society.
