About the event

Mary Mount, Publisher at Picador, and Peter Straus, Managing Director of literary agency RCW, will discuss the process of commissioning, editing and publishing contemporary works of literature. They will explore the relationship between art and commerce, and between the author, the text and their audience, through the publishing process.

Chaired by Richard Ovenden, Bodley's Librarian.

 Speakers

Mary Mount has worked in publishing for more than 25 years. She was an editor and publisher at Viking Books for 20 years, and is now the Publisher at Picador, the literary imprint at Pan Macmillan.

Peter Straus has worked in publishing and agenting for over 30 years. He is the Managing Director of the literary agency RCW.
