About the events

Join us in the summer holidays from 10am to 1pm for free creative activities – ABC you there!

Activities each week will include a selection of:

  • Book Hospital: Bring your broken, battered children's books for a check-up with the Bodleian Library's 'book doctors' and get tips on mending and looking after them
  • ABC Poster: Donate a drawing to help create an ABC poster and take your own copy home at the end of the event.
  • LEGO Printing: Use tiny LEGO pieces to print a message or pattern on our printing press.
  • Long-lost Letter Hunt: How many letters are there in the English alphabet? It wasn't always that way. Find lost letters and invent new ones.
  • Morphing Alphabets: In a curved mirror, letters and pictures warp and transform into strange ciphers.
  • Alpha-art: Build and dismantle alphabets with creative activities including mark-making, stamping, modelling and collage.
  • Exhibition Trail: Adventure through alphabets and explore the border between letter and image with an interactive exhibition trail.
