About the event
Join the experts at our 'Meet the Manuscripts' events as they introduce some of the lesser-known treasures of the Bodleian and leaf through the pages live on Zoom. Sessions will include manuscripts from German-speaking lands which are being shared online for the first time as part of a Polonsky Foundation digitization project.
The covers can tell us as much about a book as its contents. This workshop will explore the secrets which bookbindings reveal about the uses and histories of medieval manuscripts. Join Matthew Holford, Tolkien Curator of Medieval Manuscripts at the Bodleian Library, and Andrew Honey, a Bodleian book conservator, to learn more and to discover how the techniques of medieval bookbinding inform current conservation at the Bodleian Libraries.
This is the second event in a series of Meet the Manuscripts.
