About the event 

Tying in to the Oxford Festival of the Arts theme of the nine Greek Muses, Peter Toth and Susan Dunning will introduce each of the nine goddesses.

This illustrated talk will examine the Muses’ characters, and the arts under their care in Greek, Roman, and later traditions, accompanied by the viewing of Bodleian manuscripts.

This event is part of the Oxford Festival of the Arts 2024 programme, Muses.

Peter Toth is Cornelia Stark Curator of Greek Collections at the Bodleian Libraries.

Susan Dunning is Fulford Junior Research Fellow and SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at Somerville College, Oxford.
