About the event
Join us for an afternoon of all things Jane Austen with the Georgettes of Oxford, a historical society that celebrates Georgian and Regency history and culture. They organise events, dance displays, talks and workshops — this year mostly themed around the works of Austen.
Enjoy a costumed display of Georgian and Regency country dances from the film adaptations of Austen by the Georgettes. This will be followed by a free, one-hour Regency dance workshop. We will be hosting two workshops: one for beginners and one for advanced dancers, to cater for all abilities.
Programme
- 12.00 – 12:30: Dance display by the Georgettes of Oxford
- 13.00 – 14.00: Workshop one – beginners, for people with no dance experience
- 14.15 – 15.15: Workshop two – advanced, for people with some dance experience
Display
Drop in to watch the costumed dance display for free, no booking required.
Workshops
The two dance workshops are free to join. Spaces are limited so booking is essential.
We recommend that you only book a place for the advanced workshop if you already have some dance experience (this doesn't have to be historical dance!).
