This course offers you the chance to learn linocutting from scratch, or to work on improving and developing your existing printmaking skills.
Meeting online, the course will take place on Wednesday evenings for seven consecutive weeks.
Instructors Rosie and Robin will give you individual guidance, working with you to develop your own prints, in black and white and in colour. We will work on image selection, composition and design, block preparation, image transfer and carving techniques.
You will also get advice on materials, equipment and printing without a press so you can carry on developing your skills at home.
When government guidance allows, you will be invited to print your linocuts in person at the Bodleian Bibliographical Press in the Old Bodleian Library. This may be after the course has ended.
Throughout the course you will receive links to items from the Bodleian collections reflecting the rich history of images made with the relief printing techniques which include linocut. #WoodcutWednesday
